JobKeeper has been a life saver for many Australians, but do businesses want to keep people in jobs under obligation or do we want people to work because they are willing and motivated to serve customers, shareholders, and society at large? In June 2019, Deloitte reported that Australia was facing a major skills crisis, where more than two thirds of the jobs created between now and 2030 will be reliant on soft skills like empathy, good judgement, deep listening, and social intelligence. Fast forward 12 months and this gap is widening beyond belief. Not only are we still faced with a skill of the heart crisis, but we have a shortage of employees who have a willingness to want to work at all. Are we happier to put our hand out and receive assistance instead of serving people, and creating connections and positive impact in our society?
